Why we run the courses

More qualified helms means more boats on the water

Dragon boating is limited by a simple thing: a boat cannot go out without a qualified helm. Every club and school that wants to run sessions needs someone certified, and there are not enough of them.

So we deliver the courses ourselves rather than waiting for someone else to. If you want to lead sessions, this is the route, and it starts with one day on the water.

The qualification ladder

Every route starts with Basic Helm. From there you choose the club path or the centre path, and Level 3 opens up once you hold Level 2.

  1. 1 1 day

    Basic Helm

The prerequisite for everything else. Boat control, crew briefing, race rules and emergency procedures.

  2. 2 2 days

Coach Level 2 or Centre Coach

Choose the club route or the centre and schools route. Both build on Basic Helm and qualify you to coach crews.

  3. 3 Multi-day

    Coach Level 3

Performance coaching for competitive squads. Physiology, sports psychology, athlete development and squad management.

Choose your qualification level

Courses run at our London venues and combine practical time on the water with the theory the BDA assessment requires.
